ReGenX Biosciences, LLC is a research and development stage biopharmaceutical company developing novel therapeutics and research tools based on adeno-associated viral vectors, or AAV vectors. AAV vectors take advantage of a naturally occurring process that efficiently delivers genetic material into cells. AAV vectors provide an important platform for treating diseases caused by genetic errors, as well as for treating more complex diseases. Our technology and capabilities can enhance existing products or create entirely new products in a broad range of areas including:
- Cell therapy (including stem cells)
- Gene therapy
- Gene modulation (e.g., RNAi and microRNA)
- Genetic vaccines
- Protein therapy (e.g., monoclonal antibodies, cytokines)
The cumulative research and development to date from which ReGenX derives its capabilities is well positioned to have an immediate and substantive impact on the translation of research into clinically meaningful therapies. We believe that a great need exists for highly efficient delivery of genetic material and that our AAV vector technology will become one of the cornerstones for the biotechnology industry .
Our technology platform is based on discoveries from the laboratory of Professor James M. Wilson, M.D., Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylvania. ReGenX is a partnership including Dr. Wilson, the University of Pennsylvania, and GlaxoSmithKline. The Company was formed in 2009 to develop and commercialize therapeutics and life science research products utilizing Dr. Wilson's proprietary, novel AAV vectors for delivery of genetic material and related technologies.
ReGenX Mission:
To be an innovator in the development of novel therapeutics using AAV vectors to treat diseases with unmet medical needs.
To create a platform of novel products and services using AAV vectors to enable pioneering basic pharmaceutical drug discovery and research.
To become the leader in the production of high quality AAV vectors for all applications.
